    No One Dies Alone

No one is born alone, and in the best of circumstances, no one dies alone. Yet from time to time terminally ill patients come to our local hospital or skilled nursing facilities who have neither family nor close friends to be with them as they near the end of life.

No One Dies Alone is a volunteer program that provides the reassuring presence of a volunteer companion to dying patients who would otherwise be alone. With the support of the healthcare facility staff, companions are thus able to help provide patients with a valuable human gift: NOT DYING ALONE.  Volunteers offer the terminally ill a face to remember, a warm hand to hold, a soothing voice to hear and most importantly a companion who will walk with them until the end of their life.

Our church has agreed to help sponsor the start of No One Dies Alone in Carteret County.  We have presented NODA to Carteret Health Care and several skilled Rehabilitation & Healthcare facilities in Morehead City with great response.  We have a wonderful opportunity to partner with our local healthcare community to provide caring companionship to people who have no one to be with them as they pass from life to death.

We will be presenting an overview of NODA after our Sunday service on February 25th.  At that time, we will be asking for those interested in volunteering to contact Larry or Deb Bragg.  We will post a sign-up sheet for those interested as well.  If you have an interest in this project, please plan to stay after the service for a short presentation on the last Sunday in February.
