    No One Dies Alone Training

No one is born alone, and in the best of circumstances, no one dies alone. Yet from time to time terminally ill patients come to our local hospital or skilled nursing facilities who have neither family nor close friends to be with them as they near the end of life.

No One Dies Alone is a volunteer program that provides the reassuring presence of a volunteer companion to dying patients who would otherwise be alone. With the support of the healthcare facility staff, companions are thus able to help provide patients with a valuable human gift: NOT DYING ALONE.  Volunteers offer the terminally ill a face to remember, a warm hand to hold, a soothing voice to hear and most importantly a companion who will walk with them until the end of their life.

Our church has agreed to help sponsor the start of No One Dies Alone in Carteret County.  We have presented NODA to Carteret Health Care and several skilled Rehabilitation & Healthcare facilities in Morehead City with great response.  We have a wonderful opportunity to partner with our local healthcare community to provide caring companionship to people who have no one to be with them as they pass from life to death.

Deb and Larry Bragg will be holding a training for this program  on the four Fridays in May:  May 4, 11, 18 and 25 from 1 – 3 PM.  If you want to take this class  but cannot make training at this time, please talk to Deb and Larry and they can make arrangements for individual training.

Their contact information is below.  You can sign up on the bulletin board in the Social Hall if you are interested in taking the training.  There is no obligation to continue to be a volunteer if you decide after the training that this isn’t for you.
