FROM REVEREND GELSEY

A PRAYER FOR THE COSMOS
(Aka THE LORD'S PRAYER)

When Jesus is asked how people should pray, he speaks in Aramaic. The words come down to us from the Greek translation, very different in its thought forms from the language in which Jesus spoke. Neil Douglas-Klotz goes back to the Aramaic original and inspires the following rendition of mine of what Jesus intends:
Father/Mother,
who art the breath of life
And the energy of love,
Dwell in all realms and in our hearts.
May thy desire prevail everywhere.
Guide us and support us, day by day.
Forgive us as we forgive others.
Do not let us be diverted from the purpose of our lives.
Help us live in depth and in the present,
That we may be filled with divine wisdom, power, and love.
From age to age, the song goes on.

Dear people,
Thank you, first of all, for having extended a call to me to become your part-time interim minister for the 2002-2003 season. I will do my best to deserve your trust.
My whirlwind candidating weekend of less than 24 hours will be followed now by monthly visits of two consecutive weeks that include Thanksgiving, Christmas/Solstice, and Easter. I look forward to sharing lots of celebrations, and having fun all along our times together. Except for June, because of the General Assembly of our denomination, I will be with you the third and fourth weeks of every month. The schedule for the year is posted after this article.

During the times that I am not at Morehead City, my telephone number is (757) 564-9084, my address 2801 Lawnes Creek Road, Williamsburg, VA 23185. As soon as I know my local address number, I will make sure you are informed. My local phone number will be 222-3362 as of October 18th. I look forward to getting to know you and learn about your hopes, ideas, joys and concerns. During my visit from September 25th to October 2nd, I will have met with a number of committees, such as worship, search committee, finance committee and youth, possibly others. Throughout my term I will be available to meet you face-to-face. Feel free to call me for an appointment.

In shared commitment to the well-being of the members and friends of the Unitarian Coastal Fellowship, as well as the larger community,

In the faith,
Rudi Gelsey, Rudi for short.
