JULY SUNDAY SERVICES

July 6

Patriotism. For the service on July 6th we will be hearing ideas on Patriotism. Vern Reintjes, Andy
Schuck and Ann Rivers will tell us their ideas on patriotism or talk about their favorite patriot. Special music will be provided by Karen Baggett. Jerry Miller will present the story for all ages.

July 13

On this Sunday we will bring a different experience. Andrea O’Connell will introduce us to the
Reverend Joe Capper, retired Chaplain, and Cher Marrow-Bradley, owners of a horse farm/business,
Miracle Meadows, outside of Swansboro, where they work through therapeutic riding with handicapped
soldiers and children. The soldiers, some returnees from Iraq, and the children are taught trust and
independence through this unique program.

July 20 The Reverend Violet Bailey, a life long resident of Beaufort, will be bringing us information about growing up in Beaufort and her experiences in Carteret County. The Reverend Bailey is a friend of several members of our congregation and has visited us several times. She says that she is looking forward to being with us and bringing us historical information about her family and our county.

July 27 Sabbatical.   For the months of September, October, November, and December 2008, I will be away from the congregation on sabbatical leave. This is a time set aside for “study, writing, meditation and other forms of professional and religious growth” for the minister. And this represents a time for both ministerial and congregational learning, exploration, and renewal. In this service, we will consider the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in the sabbatical time and after. Following this service, Thomas Jefferson District Executive Annette Marquis will lead a conversation with the whole congregation about sabbatical issues. Please plan to stay for this conversation.
